IBM, the world’s largest information technology company, today announced that it will use Blockchain technology and produce the world’s smallest computer, which will soon be “buried in everyday devices.”
The computer is said to be smaller than a rock salt. There are still tests on the prototype stage device. When the device is not known to be available for sale, the Blockcha It is meant to be a data source task for applications.
This next generation computer uses light instead of WiFi or Bluetooth for communication. The power needed to operate the computer with an integrated LED and photo detector is provided by the small solar cell on top.
It is anticipated that the device will be used in future monitoring of products from production to delivery and consumption, to determine whether foods are kept at the correct temperature throughout the supply chain, or whether genetically modified products are being tampered with. However, it is thought that there will be a lot of potential use because it is a computer.
IBM says that computers that cost less than 10 cents will be cheap enough to be widely deployed.
