Have you had problems when boarding a flight because your suitcase did not comply with the permitted measures? Well do not worry because it will not happen again. The solution is on your mobile, because thanks to the new function included in the Kayak application you can check the measurements of hand luggage in a matter of seconds.

Augmented reality to the rescue

This new feature included in the Kayak App shows that augmented reality still has a lot of potential to take advantage of, and in this case the function is frankly attractive for the user. As the company itself tells us, Mexico has recently changed the conditions related to baggage check-in, which means that from now on many more passengers will start using hand luggage more frequently to save costs.

Thanks to the new tool, passengers can comfortably check the dimensions of the suitcase before checking in , and thus ensure whether or not they will have to check the luggage they carry on that occasion.

For now only available for iOS

Because the application makes use of Apple’s ARKit , this new tool developed by Kayak will only be available in the company’s application for iOS. You need a device with version of the iOS 11.3 system or higher, and to perform the measurements you just have to scan the floor and the suitcase from different angles for detection and subsequent measurement.

Of course, remember that weight is another factor to take into account when carrying hand luggage, and that you will not be able to calculate with the application, so it would be better to have a scale nearby and check it before leaving to the airport.

Alternative for Android

Although the Kayak tool is not available for now in the version of your Android application, there are other applications that could help you achieve the same goal. One of them is Measure, from Google, which is responsible for tracking objects to make measurements with the help of augmented reality.

It is not as automatic a process as it is in the option offered by Kayak, but it could be useful to get out of the way in case of emergency. You can download it from the Play Store in the following link.
